DEPARTMENT/SCHOOL: Academic Services

JOB TITLE: Credibility Officer

SALARY & HOURS: Band 2

Mon – Fri 9.00am – 5.00pm. Onsite - 35 hours per week

The University of Buckingham offers a welcoming working environment. As the UK’s smallest university and the only independent institution with a Royal Charter, we pride ourselves on our close-knit community, personalised education, and inclusive culture. Our staff community supports collaboration and innovation across the University.

Academic Services provides professional support to academic departments, student services and operational teams, ensuring efficient working, regulatory compliance, and a positive student experience.

We are seeking a Credibility Officer to provide administrative support to the University’s Student Visa Compliance function, in line with our responsibilities as a licensed UK Student Visa Sponsor. The role is key to supporting international admissions and ensuring compliance with UKVI requirements.

This position would suit a highly organised administrator with strong attention to detail who enjoys managing processes, maintaining accurate records and working collaboratively across teams. Working closely with Visa Compliance Officers, Admissions and Faculty colleagues, the Credibility Officer supports the processing of international student applications prior to CAS issuance.

The role focuses on administration, coordination, record keeping and regulatory support rather than visa decision making, and plays an important part in keeping University processes compliant, audit ready and effective in supporting students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for credibility checks on international applicants before CAS issuance
  • Track applications and documentation to support accurate and compliant CAS processing
  • Maintain clear, accurate and well‑organised student visa records to ensure audit readiness
  • Support routine compliance activity, including attendance monitoring and spot checks
  • Assist with maintaining and updating policies, procedures, guidance and communication templates
  • Respond to routine enquiries regarding University processes and UKVI rules
  • Liaise with Admissions, Faculty and Operational colleagues to support efficient workflows
  • Support key stages of the student lifecycle, including induction, enrolment and graduation (occasional evening or weekend work may be required)

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in an administrative, regulatory, compliance or advisory role
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures accurately and consistently
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • High levels of discretion, integrity and reliability.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record‑keeping systems
  • Experience working in Higher Education with familiarity with student visa processes or UKVI compliance is desirable

We recognise that no candidate will meet every requirement perfectly. If you have strong administrative skills, a proactive mindset and willingness to develop, we encourage you to apply. Training and support will be provided.

What can we offer you?

In addition to membership of the Aviva Pension scheme, we offer a range of benefits, including beautiful campus environments in Buckingham and Crewe, free on‑site parking, an Employee Assistance Programme, Christmas closure, on‑site gym and exercise classes and catering facilities. Staff also benefit from excellent opportunities to network, learn across departments, and discounted courses for themselves and their families.

Informal enquiries may be made to Mrs Megan Turner at email:

Applications will close on the 15th May 2026. It is expected that interviews will be held shortly thereafter.

Any offer of employment is subject to standard pre‑employment checks, including eligibility to work in the UK and DBS clearance where applicable.
